Aug. 31 Centegra Health System and a group called Guardians of the Ribbon have joined forces to bring pink fire trucks to McHenry County Tuesday, Aug. 31 to support women in their fight against cancer and inspire men to get involved.
In one of only four stops in Illinois this year, these unique fire trucks will be at Centegra Hospital-McHenry from 10 am to 2 pm and Centegra Hospital-Woodstock from 3 to 5 pm.
The Guardians of the Ribbon is an organization that drives PINK Fire Trucks across the United States to support women in their fight against cancer and inspire men to get involved. It was started in Phoenix, Arizona by firefighter Dave Graybill. The group is making its way across the country and it is their mission to also spread the word worldwide. During their visit to McHenry County, all Associates are encouraged to wear pink to show support for those battling cancer. Anyone who has been impacted by cancer is welcome to sign the trucks as they make their way across the country. www.centegra.org

Sep. 7 Hear the latest information on prostate health from Dr. Jeffery Shafer, independent radiation oncologist on the medical staff at Centegra Health System. A prostate cancer survivor, Dr. Shafter will discuss the latest developments, treatments and importance of diet and lifestyle on maintaining and achieving prostate health. Sep. 12 On Sunday, September 12, 2010, come walk with us, along with your friends, family, and colleagues in the McHenry County Memory Walk! Memory Walk is the Alzheimer’s Associations national fundraiser for programs and services to help people with Alzheimer’s, their families and caregivers. McHenry County Memory walk is a 1.5mile course around beautiful Sunset Park. The route is wheelchair and stroller accessible, and dogs on leashes are welcome! The Alzheimer's Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research.

Oct. 24 FAMILY HEALTH PARTNERSHIP CLINIC ANNOUNCES THE 10TH ANNUAL CARE 4 BREAST CANCER 5K RUN/WALK to raise funds for uninsured and underinsured women who are in need of breast cancer services in McHenry County. All proceeds from event stay local to help local women. This year the 5K has moved to Woodstock North High School in Woodstock and the course will be on Raffel Road, Make Lane, Roger Road, Sweetwater Road, and Haydn Street in Woodstock on Sunday, October 24th.
