Clinic Receives Mental Health Resource League Grant ~ An $8000 grant from the Mental Health Resource League will help the Family Health Partnership Clinic support nursing care to patients with mental illness. Kathy Rauch, Volunteer Coordinator, and Darlene Pepke, Clinic Nurse, spoke at the Annual Awards event held at Stage Left Café in Woodstock.
Ms. Rauch noted the similarities between the League, an all volunteer organization, and the Clinic which relies on volunteers for its physician base as well as many supportive functions including clerical work, referral services, and pharmacy management. The Clinic utilized over 500 volunteers at its Care 4 Breast Cancer race this fall. The Mental Health Resource League supports community organizations through its two fundraisers, Fair Diddley in May and Fall Diddley in October. These events draw thousands to the Woodstock Square in spring and to the Boone County Fairgrounds in fall. The Family Health Partnership Clinic provides health care to the uninsured of McHenry County and relies on community support to provide over 8400 patient visits annually. For more information on the Clinic, visit the website at www.hpclinic.org.

Cardiac calcium scoring provided
Cardiovascular disease affects one in four women over the age of 65.
That’s why Centegra Health System is partnering with Cardiac Surgery Associates (CSA), the largest heart surgery physician group in Illinois, to offer cardiac calcium scoring to women ages 35 to 75. As the first Accredited Chest Pain Center in the region, Centegra’s emergency departments in McHenry and Woodstock emphasize immediate treatment of chest pain and heart symptoms. A team of cardiologists provides a full scope of heart-related services. Those include diagnosis to treatment to rehabilitation, while incorporating open heart and valve surgery and state-of-the-art imaging capabilities. Cardiac calcium scoring is a screening study used to check for the probability of plaque, which can be associated with other cardiac risk factors for heart disease. This is a non-invasive screening test that requires no prep and takes about 30 minutes. Walk-ins are accepted. A physician order is not required for an appointment. Centegra medical imaging is currently providing cardiac CT scans to evaluate for coronary calcium scoring for a total cost of $75. The cost includes hospital charge and radiologist fee. Payment is due at the same time an appointment is scheduled. No insurance will be billed. To schedule an appointment, call 815-334-5566 or visit www.centegra.org/heart.

Two days after she was rescued, she gave birth to 5 puppies, of which only 2 survived (Skye and her brother Blue). She has lived her entire life in a kennel situation with 2 outside runs. She is not used to children, cats or other small animals. She is VERY friendly and eager to please. She has done very well in her obedience classes and gets along with other dogs.
Smoothy is a young spayed female Staffordshire Terrier mix.
She is a very sweet little girl, who loves people and is very kind and gentle. She lost her home due to the economy and is so confused. She's a gorgeous black/brown with a beautiful white face. Her tail goes a mile a minute and she just eats up the attention. She is good with other dogs and GREAT with people. She'd love a brand new start.

2012 What does this year look like for your business?

May I ask what you're doing to Change things for 2012?

These are just a few things you might consider if you haven't done so already.

Generally, things won't pick up by themselves. You do great work, there's no question. But being the best kept secret is not an asset. You have to make yourself known to people who can benefit from your services.

There's an old saying, "For things to change, things have to change." That simply means that if you want your circumstances to change, you're going to have to change the way you're doing things.

Some businesses just like yours are actually thriving in the current economy. They're having their best year ever. And others like yours are having tough times. What's the difference? Same economy. Same town.
Same market. Same competition. Same number of hours in a day. Same computer. Same software. Same, same, same, same.

The difference has to be in what you're either doing or not doing to let your market know who you are, what you've done for others, and what you can do for them.

The simple fact is, if you're not proactively doing things to generate new business, things are going to remain the same... or they're going to degenerate, depending on the economy, competition, people's needs, and their attitudes.

You may already be doing the things I described, and if so, congratulations, you're on your way. If not, you might consider taking a look at what you can do to put some of them into play.

1st Impression Marketing Solutions is here to help set up this year as a year of success for your business. Call us and let's talk. 815-675-9194.

PETS IN NEED PET OF THE WEEK ~
Charlie was adopted from Pets In Need as a kitten.
He is about 6 yrs old now. His family had to move and didn't take him with. He is sad and confused. He lived with another cat and a couple kids, so he's ready, willing and able to join your family. What do ya say? If you would like to meet him, please call or email the shelter.
Osito is a 3 year old poodle with a very unique name...
it means "little bear". And when he came to us he sure did look like a little bear before we gave him a bath and groomed him a bit! He is not neutered yet, but he is scheduled to be by the end of January. He is a very sweet and shy boy. Osito was a bit neglected and needs a lot of love and attention. He is only about 7 pounds but he has a big heart.
Buddy is a 2 year old male Bichon/Poodle mix,
that weighs about 22 pounds. He came to Pets In Need because his owner's landlord wouldn't allow dogs anymore. Buddy has a beautiful coat that looks like a sheep! And he is great with children, loves the outdoors and walks especially. He is a very energetic pup that loves to play.
